According to Dr. Kuo-Chin Huang from National Taiwan University,  in weight loss procedures like gastric bypass, obese patients lose weight because they are forced to reduce the amount of food intake however many nutrients are also lost when patients undergo these surgeries.

“The commonly lost nutrients are vitamin D and calcium, which are related to the development of osteoporosis,”.

On average people who had weight loss surgery had a 21 percent higher risk of breaking a bone in the next five years and risk was most in case of gastric bypass.
The first thing surgical patients should do is take nutrients like vitamin D and calcium supplements, he said.

However almost all weight loss surgeries are risky and not needed and unnecessary for tackling obesity  and their benefits propagated are misleading instead all one need to fight obesity is healthy food.

Our body is made up of food which we eat during our day to day life. If we are overweight or obese at the moment that means the food which we eat is unhealthy.”
